Non-Fiction 2B Transactional Writing - What is it?
You are asked to write two different tasks from a range of situations, which mimic real life, meaning that you could be writing a letter to persuade your parents to let you go to Newquay with friends after the exams finish as one task and for the other task you may have to inform the school about how they can improve their carbon footprint (recycling etc.).
Things to remember:
You must check the Purpose, Audience and Format carefully for each task.
Think carefully about who you are writing for and decide if the response should be formal or informal.
Also, consider the tone you write in. If you are writing to the school to inform them it is unlikely that a chatty, informal style will be appropriate, however to your parents this would be fine.
The way you write is important so you should be aware of technical accuracy relating to: sentence structures, punctuation, vocabulary and spelling.
Each task is worth 20 marks, so be careful to avoid focusing on one task and running out of time for the second one. This will automatically half the marks you can achieve.
